The project "Provision of Vocational Courses in Tourism" addresses the critical need for qualified human resources in Georgia's tourism sector, aiming to attract higher-budget tourists by bridging the skills gap and increasing the number of highly skilled professionals in the country.

Supported by the USAID Industry-Led Skills Development Program, this initiative involves the creation of four comprehensive vocational courses tailored to meet the needs of the tourism industry and equip participants with essential skills:

  • Hotel Management Certificate Course – Duration: 7 months (Including Practical Component), Locations: Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, Telavi
  • Strategic Branding & Tourism Marketing Certificate Course – Duration: 3 months, Location: Tbilisi
  • Tour Operations and MICE Tourism Certificate Course – Duration: 4 months (Including Practical Component), Location: Tbilisi
  • Wine Tourism Certificate Course – Duration: 5 months (Including Practical Component), Locations: Tbilisi, Telavi

International certificates will be granted for the Strategic Branding & Tourism Marketing and Wine Tourism courses, supported by the University of Alcala, Spain. Additionally, all four courses are being prepared for authorization by the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement of Georgia.

The project fosters partnerships between various stakeholders from both the private and public sectors, including universities, associations such as the Georgian Tourism Associaiton and the Georgian Eno-Tourism Associaitons, DMOs, hotels, travel agencies, tour operators, and wineries. This collaborative approach ensures a comprehensive enhancement of knowledge and development of hospitality skills across the country.

Lecturers for the program are industry practitioners who bring practical, up-to-date knowledge to the participants. The course content is developed in collaboration with Spanish experts and Georgian potential employers, ensuring its relevance to the current job market. Overall, approximately 115 participants will be trained or retrained in the fields mentioned above throughout the project.
